SUPPORTING WOUNDED WARRIORS

MOST OF US share a love of peace, and are saddened by
war in Iraq or elsewhere. We look forward to an end to violence,
hunger, cruelty. But the reality of today's world is that thousands
of young men and women have returned home with physical,
emotional, and mental wounds.

If you feel a personal connection to support our wounded
soldiers, check the following link to a website fully dedicated
to this cause:

A SIMPLE WAY TO HELP: Last week the Presidents
Commission on Returning Wounded Warriors issued
their recommendations, which include:

1. The immediate creation of comprehensive recovery plans
to provide the right care and support at the right time in the
right place;

2. Completely restructure the disability and compensation
system;

3. Aggressively prevent and treat Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI);

4. Significantly strengthen support for families;

5. Rapidly transfer patient information between DoD
and VA; and

6. Strongly support Walter Reed (WRAMC) by recruiting
and retaining first-rate professionals through 2011.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Whether you are a
liberal or conservative, a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian
or any other political affiliation, CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW
to send President George Bush an email in support of enacting
all of the recommendations of the Presidents Commission on
Returning Wounded Warriors.

  • One night after watching some documentary I blurted warriors.groundplane.org

    PTSD has given me profound insight into betrayal ... into the sense of having been betrayed ... into what it's like to have the social contract made mockery.

    There's no excuse for pounding some stranger in the face cuz he looked at you with something like a sneer.
    But there are reasons.

    There's no excuse for going postal on a family member or spouse who's snotty or pissy or momentarily selfish or rude.
    But there are reasons.

    It's hellacious.

    "Stand Down" ...
    ... we gotta reach out.
